Wendy’s Employee Turned Hero: Aspiring Nursing Assistant Saves Man’s Life

An unexpected break from work turned into a life-saving moment for a Wendy’s employee in Lexington, Kentucky. Alexandria Cowheard, a 22-year-old aspiring certified nursing assistant, was alerted by a coworker about a man collapsing in the franchise’s parking lot on Richmond Road.

Already in the process of calling 911, Cowheard rushed to the unconscious man, noting the urgency from the color of his face. Drawing on her CPR training from her senior year in high school, she quickly took action. Despite a brief moment of uncertainty, she began chest compressions.

In just a matter of minutes, the man, who had initially stopped breathing, exhibited signs of improvement—snoring and gasping for air. While the entire ordeal felt prolonged due to the adrenaline, Cowheard’s quick and effective response played a crucial role.
