Louisiana State Police have issued an arrest warrant for NFL prospect Kyren Lacy, 24, on charges of negligent homicide, felony hit and run, and reckless operation of a vehicle in connection with a deadly crash that occurred on December 17 in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

Incident Overview

Lacy, a standout wide receiver for Louisiana State University (LSU), was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger when he:

  • Recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed.
  • Crossed the centerline into a No-Passing Zone on Louisiana Highway 20.

This maneuver allegedly caused the driver of a 2017 Kia Cadenza traveling northbound to swerve, crossing the centerline and colliding head-on with a 2017 Kia Sorento. Tragically, 78-year-old Herman Hall of Thibodaux was fatally injured and later died at the hospital.

Lacy allegedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement, according to police reports.

The charges Lacy faces include:

  • Reckless Operation of a Vehicle

Louisiana State Police confirmed they are in communication with Lacy and his legal representation regarding his surrender.

Lacy’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux of Alliance Sports, issued a statement emphasizing full cooperation:

“We strongly believe that the facts will ultimately demonstrate the truth, but we respect the need for a full and thorough investigation.”

Arceneaux added that the case is being taken very seriously, with a focus on resolving it responsibly.


Kyren Lacy’s Football Career

Lacy was a key wide receiver for the LSU Tigers, completing the 2024 season with:

  • 58 receptions
  • 866 yards
  • 9 touchdowns

Over his five-year collegiate career, Lacy totaled 26 touchdown catches. He declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on December 19, just two days after the crash, and opted out of the Texas Bowl against Baylor to prepare for the draft.
