Texas Starbucks Barista Helps Protect Teen by Leaving Note on Cup

If you thought someone that you see might be in trouble, how would you handle it? Starbucks baristas at one Texas location took a unique approach that yielded a happy ending.

A high school aged girl was in a Corpus Christi Starbucks doing her homework when she was approached by a man she didn’t know.

“She was sitting at her table alone studying and this man came by and noticed what she was studying and wanted to talk to her about it,” the girl’s mother revealed in a Facebook post.

“He, I think, just kind of became loud and animated about it,” the mother explained.

The Starbucks staff took notice and sent her an ‘extra hot chocolate that someone forgot to pick up’. On the drink was a message that read, “Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup.”

Fortunately, the girl felt safe and did not take the lid off the cup. However, it’s good to know that there are people that look out for others.

“How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!” the girl’s mother concluded in her post which was shared over 56,000 times on social media. Many people commented by praising the quick-thinking barista.

The man walked away when he realized the staff was communicating with the girl.

It just goes to show that it is worth it to check up on someone when these kinds of situations arise. What would you have done if you were in the baristas’ shoes?
