Texas College Student Disfigured After Being Attacked by A Dog

Jacqueline Durand, a 22-year-old Texas University student, who works part-time for Dr. Justin Bishop, as a dog sitter, was catastrophically disfigured by the Bishop’s two dogs.

The bloodthirsty attack happened on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, when Durand happily got her new job as a dog sitter.

During the job interview, Durand and the dogs’ owner visited the two dogs in their home to get to know them and their routine.

The two dogs are a German shepherd mix-breed and Bender, a pit bull mix-breed.

The bishop told Durand that the dogs would be in the house permanently, and she would always need to take care of them when he was away.

On the day she started the dog sitting job, one day before her 22nd birthday, December 24th, 2021, she opened the door to the Bishop’s home without knowing that the dogs’ kennels were open.

The lawsuit states: “The two dogs left their kennel, pushed the door open, and brutally attacked Durand.”

The dogs knocked Durand off balance which made her drop her phone, and they attacked her nose, ears, lips, and other parts of her lower face. She was brutally injured all over her body.

Durand’s attorney, Chip Brooker said: “the Bishop’s had assured that the dogs would be crated. But the owner texted Durand that she failed to crate the dogs before leaving town.”

There was a sign at the door of the home warning people about the crazy dogs. The text on the board reads: Crazy Dogs. Please Don’t Knock or Ring the Bell. Call or Text instead. Please leave the package by the door.”

The dogs were so frenzied that they pulled all Durand’s clothes off, including the blue jeans she was wearing.

The dogs’ attack ended after a neighbor heard a loud noise and scream from the home. He immediately called 9-1-1, and she was transported  to a Level 1 trauma center for handling severe injuries.

Durand is presently seeking a jury trial of $1 million in damages, after several corrective surgeries she has undergone, and probably more to come. She is also suing the Bishop’s for not training their dogs and not providing a safe environment for their visitors.

A municipal judge ordered the two dogs should be euthanized after capturing them in the city of Coppell.

On Tuesday, January 18th, 2022, Durand posted on Facebook and thanked the people who wished her well from her hospital.
