Rockets launched at Israel in largest attack since 2006

After the Iran-backed terror organization, Hezbollah condemned an Israeli police raid on Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque and vowed to use “all measures… to deter the enemy,” at least 34 rockets were fired into Israel on Thursday.

The greatest attack from the north since 2006, when Hezbollah shot hundreds of rockets into Israel over the course of a 34-day battle, according to Israeli officials, who claim that just five of the missiles made it past the Iron Dome defensive system of the Jewish state. Two casualties have also been recorded.

A 19-year-old guy and a 26-year-old man who were both struck by shrapnel while driving are being treated at the Galilee Medical Center, according to the facility.

The bombings on the first day of Passover are also among the biggest since Hezbollah’s takeover of Lebanon in August 2021.

According to his office, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed of the incident and has scheduled a meeting with his high-ranking security cabinet. Following the rocket assaults from Lebanon, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is said to have “given initial directives” to IDF Chief Herzi Halevi.

The Iron Dome reportedly stopped at least 25 of the missiles, according to the Israel Defense Forces, who have not publicly acknowledged the precise number of rockets fired during the strike on Thursday.

After the IDF withdrew from southern Lebanon in 1997, Hezbollah continued its rocket strikes on Israel. The US recognized Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organization.

Following conflicts between Palestinians and Israeli police near the Temple Mount on Tuesday night, tensions rose again, drawing condemnations from Hezbollah and rocket assaults from the Hamas-run Gaza Strip.

Hezbollah issued a statement in which it vehemently condemned the Israeli occupation forces’ assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex and their atrocities on the devout.

Hezbollah declares its unwavering support for the Palestinian people and the resistance organizations, promising to stand by them in any actions they choose to defend worshippers and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevent the enemy from carrying out more attacks.

Hamas, which engaged in an 11-day war with Israel in 2021, is closely associated with Hezbollah.

According to Israel’s military, rocket firing from Gaza continued early on Thursday morning. Israel has since retaliated by opening fire on targets in the Gaza Strip.

Muslims attempted to lock themselves inside the mosque overnight during the fasting month of Ramadan, which led to the violence at Al-Aqsa.

Tuesday night, the worshipers were forcibly removed by Israeli police, some carrying clubs, rocks, and firecrackers.

As the historic site of ancient temples, the Temple Mount, where Al-Aqsa mosque is situated, is the holiest site in Judaism.
