Firefighters rescued an Uber driver in Spokane Valley, Washington, on Wednesday afternoon after her car plunged into a ravine.
Patrick Erickson, spokesperson for the Spokane Valley Fire Department, told media that the woman’s family had filed a missing persons report after they lost contact with her during her overnight shift.

“They knew something was wrong when she didn’t check in with them early in the morning,” Erickson explained.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was located using a location-sharing app on her phone. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and found her trapped at the bottom of a steep ravine in a heavily wooded area.
“They called us in, and our team arrived to extract her from the vehicle,” Erickson said.
Firefighters removed the SUV’s doors to safely free the woman and carried her up the embankment.
She was found conscious and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. While it remains unclear how her vehicle went off the road, Erickson noted that she is believed to have been in the ravine for at least 12 hours.
