Stanley, the renowned drinkware brand, has announced a voluntary recall of approximately 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs due to a potential burn hazard. The recall, detailed in a release posted on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website on Thursday, highlights safety concerns with the mugs’ lids.

Faulty Lid Design Poses Risk
The recall stems from issues with the mug lids, which the company says can shrink when exposed to heat and torque. This defect may cause the lids to detach during use, potentially exposing users to hot liquids and resulting in burns.

According to Stanley, there have been 91 reports worldwide of lid detachment, including 16 incidents in the United States. These cases resulted in 38 burn injuries globally, with two injuries reported in the U.S. Of the reported injuries, 11 required medical attention.
