During the Grammys on Sunday night, Taylor Swift thrilled her fans with the surprise announcement of her upcoming album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” set to release on April 19.

Earlier in the day, Swifties had anticipated news about “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” when Taylor changed her profile picture to a black-and-white image across multiple social media platforms, including Instagram.

Contrary to expectations, while accepting the award for Best Pop Vocal Album for “Midnights,” Swift revealed the arrival of an entirely new album. The artwork for the “Reputation” album features a black-and-white image of Swift with her name presented in newspaper type, symbolizing her response to media representation.

As the day progressed, Rep TV began trending on X, but after the announcement, “red herring” started trending as fans speculated that the “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” clues were deliberate distractions from rumors about her 11th studio album.

Leading up to the ceremony, Swift’s website was temporarily down, displaying an error message with the letters “hneriergrd.” Once unscrambled, these letters spelled “red herring.”

The upcoming album will comprise 16 songs along with a bonus track titled “The Manuscript.” Swift disclosed in her acceptance speech that she had kept the album a secret for two years.

During her speech, Swift expressed her gratitude to the fans, saying, “I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th. It’s called ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you!”
