A 60-year-old man who embarked on a solo sailing journey from California to Hawaii has successfully reached the islands after the U.S. Coast Guard issued a public appeal to locate the missing sailor.
Noel Rubio, the missing sailor, safely arrived in Hawaii aboard his 32-foot sailboat, named Malulani, on Saturday, as confirmed by the Coast Guard in a statement released on Monday.
Rubio set sail from Long Beach on December 28 with the intention of reaching Kaneohe on the island of Oahu within three weeks. His last communication was made via cellphone on the same day, located south of Catalina Island in California.

Despite extensive searches conducted by the Coast Guard in harbors across California, Hawaii, and Mexico, along with urgent marine information broadcasts, Rubio remained unlocated. His sole means of communication aboard the Malulani was a VHF-FM marine band radio.
