NEW YORK CITY, NY — A shocking act of violence unfolded in the Bronx on Monday evening, leaving six people injured, including a 40-year-old mother and her 12-year-old daughter, in what authorities have described as a “brazen and heartless attack.”

Two gunmen, who remain at large, opened fire on a group outside the G&W Grocery before continuing their assault inside the crowded convenience store. The suspects used the mother as a human shield during the attack, according to NYPD Interim Chief of Department John Chell.
Incident Details
The shooting occurred around 5 p.m. when patrol officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in front of the store. Security footage revealed the gunmen running across the street and firing multiple rounds at individuals gathered outside.
As the intended targets fled into the store, the gunmen continued firing, shattering the front windows. Inside, the mother and her daughter were standing at the counter when one of the intended targets used her as a shield.
“The mother was used as a shield by the intended targets of the shooting,” Chell stated during a press conference outside the store. The mother sustained a gunshot wound to her stomach, while her daughter was struck in the leg. Four other men, aged 18 to 21, were also injured.

Beverly Taylor, a witness, recounted the terrifying moment: “There were 10 to 15 shots I heard, and I just dropped to the ground.”
