Boston, Massachusetts — A tragic Boston dog attack in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood on Monday evening claimed the life of a woman and left two police officers with minor injuries, according to the Boston Police Department.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when police responded to a report of a violent dog attack. Upon arrival, officers found a woman with life-threatening injuries and a man who was also injured. The woman, believed to be the dog’s owner, was transported to a hospital, where she later died. Her identity has not been released.

Police Take Action Against Aggressive Dog
According to Deputy Superintendent Paul McLaughlin, the dog, which had already inflicted severe injuries on the victims, posed an immediate threat to responding officers.

“Obviously, the dog, given what he did to the two victims, the owners of the dogs, the officers made the decision to discharge and put the dog down,” McLaughlin said during a press briefing Monday night.

Additional Dogs Removed from Property
In addition to the dog involved in the attack, three other dogs were removed from the property by city officials. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the attack, including whether the dogs had a history of aggression.
