A man from Virginia is in critical condition after being accidentally shot by a 2-year-old, according to police reports.
The Chesterfield County Police Department stated that the incident occurred Monday morning as the man was preparing to leave the house. He had placed his handgun on a nearby chair when the toddler got hold of it and unintentionally fired the weapon, striking the man.
The man was airlifted to a hospital where he remains in critical condition. Fortunately, no one else in the house, including the child, was injured.

The victim, identified by media, as the boyfriend of the child’s mother, is now at the center of an ongoing investigation into the incident.
