A tragic incident involving the alleged abduction of three children from Virginia Beach ended in a fatal car crash on Thursday morning, police report.
The sequence of events began on Wednesday night when Virginia State Police responded to a stabbing they believed to be “domestic-related.”
Two female victims, one adult, and one juvenile, were transported to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and are currently in stable condition, according to police.
The suspect, 36-year-old Dana Plummer, is accused of stabbing the two victims before fleeing the scene with his three children.
The children were identified as 7-year-old Zayin Plummer, 5-year-old Zayir Plummer, and 1-year-old Za’riyah Plummer.
An AMBER Alert was issued for the children on Thursday morning, though it has since been canceled.
Thanks to a tip from a member of the public, law enforcement was able to identify the suspect’s vehicle. When officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle fled north on the highway into Maryland, police said.
During the pursuit, the driver lost control, causing the car to crash.
The three children were found at the scene. Sadly, the 1-year-old was transported to the hospital but later passed away from her injuries.
Dana Plummer was apprehended at the scene.

He now faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, three counts of parental abduction, four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and domestic assault, according to police.
