Community Tensions
Following the arrests, police conducted searches at locations in north London, including a Kurdish community center, which triggered protests from local Kurdish residents.
Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, who oversees policing in Haringey—a London borough with significant Turkish and Kurdish populations—acknowledged the impact of the operation on the community.
“We understand that local Kurds have been particularly impacted by this activity,” Haines said. “We will continue to engage with Kurdish community members to provide updates and address their concerns.”
