A plane crash in Savannah, Georgia, on Sunday, resulted in the death of the pilot and left a passenger injured, according to officials.

The crash took place in the 200 block of E. 66th Street within the Lamara Heights neighborhood, as reported by the Savannah Police Department.
Fortunately, no one on the ground was harmed during the incident, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be conducting an investigation, officials said.
Savannah Union Firefighters shared on Facebook that they received a call about the crash at approximately 9:46 p.m. on Sunday evening.

When firefighters arrived, both the pilot and passenger were trapped inside the wreckage. Firefighters acted quickly to free them so they could be taken to the hospital, the statement added.
Authorities confirmed that the area will remain closed to facilitate the investigation and the removal of the aircraft.
