Edward Roberts and Ana Carolina Gomez Bridge, whose home backs up to the plant, filed their lawsuit on Tuesday against Givaudan Flavors Corporation and its parent company, Givaudan U.S. The explosion, which occurred on Nov. 12, destroyed the plant, killed two workers, and scattered debris into nearby homes and yards.

“Givaudan failed miserably to operate their business responsibly, and the consequences were catastrophic,” said Tad Thomas, the Louisville-based lawyer representing Roberts and Bridge, in a media release.
The lawsuit claims the company ignored warnings from employees about an overheating cooking vessel, continuing operations despite the potential risks.
