Authorities have arrested the neighbor of Melissa Jubane, a nurse whose remains were discovered on Friday, days after she was reported missing by her co-workers in Beaverton, Oregon.
Bryce Johnathan Schubert, 27, now faces charges in connection with Jubane’s murder, with investigators confirming on Saturday his involvement in her disappearance.
Jubane, 32, who worked at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, failed to report for her shift on Wednesday morning, prompting alarm among her colleagues, friends, and family, according to a statement from the Beaverton Police Department.
“Her lack of communication was highly unusual and concerning,” police noted.
Investigators thoroughly searched Jubane’s apartment complex and reviewed her phone, banking, and credit card activity, but found no immediate trace. Schubert was identified as a suspect through an in-depth investigation, which ultimately led to the discovery of her remains, police reported.
Details surrounding her death, as well as how her remains were located, have not yet been released.
It is unclear if Schubert has legal representation at this time.

St. Vincent Hospital issued a statement on Saturday expressing their condolences to Jubane’s family, calling her loss deeply felt by her colleagues.
“This has shocked us all. Melissa was an extraordinary nurse who embodied the values of compassion, excellence, and integrity as part of our Providence Mission,” the statement read. “We extend our heartfelt support to her loved ones and co-workers, and we are grateful for the community’s expressions of concern.”
