A 4-year-old girl from Arizona was found unresponsive in a hot car on Sunday in Buckeye, Arizona, and later pronounced dead, according to local authorities.
The Buckeye Police Department reported that family members had returned home from a park around 2 p.m. that afternoon. Approximately two hours later, they realized the girl was missing and discovered her inside the parked vehicle. Police were called around 5 p.m., the department said in a statement on social media.
“Officers arrived on the scene and immediately began chest compressions on the child, attempting to use an AED before medical personnel arrived and transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced deceased,” the police stated.

The car was parked in front of a residence near North 212th Drive and West Granada Road, officials said.

On the day of the incident, temperatures at the nearby Buckeye Municipal Airport reached around 101 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the National Weather Service.
Police said the investigation into the incident is still in its early stages.
