A Story of Survival

Benastick recounted his harrowing experience to authorities, detailing how he endured the wilderness alone.

“Sam told police that he stayed in his car for a couple of days and then walked to a creek, mountainside where he camped out for 10-15 days,” RCMP officials stated.

Afterward, Benastick moved into the valley and constructed a makeshift shelter in a dried-out creek bed. He survived by relying on his instincts and resilience until he encountered the workers who ultimately led him to safety.
