Authorities have arrested a man wanted in the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old boy earlier this month on a Colorado Tribal Reservation.

Jeremiah Hight, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon in a remote area west of Oljato, Utah, on the Navajo Nation reservation. Members of the Navajo Police Department’s dog team and the Bureau of Indian Affairs drug enforcement division located and arrested him, according to Navajo police spokesperson Chrissy Largo.

Details of the Arrest
Hight had been the focus of a multi-day manhunt. Authorities found him on a mesa, far from populated areas, in what police described as a challenging search.
The arrest came just 24 hours after the FBI offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture and conviction. The FBI had been investigating the Dec. 11 shooting in Towaoc, Colorado, a small town located on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation, approximately 110 miles east of where Hight was apprehended.
Authorities have not yet disclosed details about what led up to the tragic shooting.
