Justin Timberlake has reached an agreement to settle his driving while intoxicated case in the Hamptons, according to sources familiar with the situation.
The pop star is expected to appear in Sag Harbor Village court on Friday, where he will plead guilty and pay a fine, resolving the misdemeanor charges, sources confirmed.
The incident occurred in June when Timberlake was leaving the American Hotel and was stopped by police for running a stop sign and swerving into the wrong lane. According to the police report, the officer detected alcohol on Timberlake’s breath.
The criminal complaint also detailed that Timberlake exhibited signs of intoxication, including bloodshot, glassy eyes, slurred speech, unsteady footing, and poor performance on a field sobriety test. Timberlake reportedly told the officer that he had only consumed one drink.
As a result of his arrest, Timberlake’s license was suspended after he refused a chemical test, though the suspension only affects his driving privileges in New York due to his out-of-state license.
Timberlake has pleaded not guilty twice to the charges related to the arrest. After initially pleading not guilty, he had a re-arraignment on August 2, where he appeared virtually due to a paperwork error during his initial charge.
Following the arrest, Timberlake addressed the situation during a performance at Chicago’s United Center on June 21, telling the audience, “We’ve been through ups and downs and lefts and rights. It’s been a tough week, but you’re here, and I’m here.”
