Woman Vanishes Beneath Ice in Alaska River Attempting Dog Rescue

Continuing with the search, Alaska State Troopers intend to look for a woman who disappeared over the weekend in an Anchorage river while trying to save a dog. The search has been active since then and is set for Tuesday.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Saturday as a couple was strolling down the North Fork Eagle River Trail with their dogs. When one of their pets jumped into the river, both individuals followed suit to rescue it. However, according to an official statement by Alaska State Troopers released on Monday, the woman disappeared after entering an open water section of the river that day.

The disappearance of the woman under the ice in Eagle River was reported by Alaska State Troopers’ spokesperson, Austin McDaniel. According to him, she vanished while her companion watched and has remained missing ever since.

Although a dive team and troopers conducted an under-ice search on Sunday, the woman has not been found yet. The resumption of the search is scheduled for Tuesday.The gentleman involved in the occurrence emerged without any injuries.

The Eagle River can be reached by hiking the North Fork Eagle River Trail, situated around 20 miles northeast of Anchorage’s city center. This river runs northwest and makes its way northward of downtown before ultimately reaching Cook Inlet.
