A 17-year-old individual was apprehended on Monday in connection with the Washington carjacking of an off-duty FBI agent in Washington, D.C. that transpired last week, as reported by the police.
The teenager has been taken into custody and is facing charges as an adult for armed carjacking with a firearm in relation to the incident that occurred on November 29, according to police statements released on Tuesday.
Fortunately, the off-duty FBI agent emerged unharmed from the incident. The agent had just exited a vehicle when approached by two individuals, one of whom brandished a firearm, resulting in a robbery at gunpoint.
Subsequently, the assailants fled the scene in the FBI agent’s vehicle. However, the stolen vehicle was later recovered by the police.

The frequency of carjacking incidents in Washington this year has witnessed a significant surge, more than doubling compared to the previous year. Metropolitan Police Department statistics reveal that over 900 such incidents have occurred in the city so far this year, with 77% of them involving the use of firearms.
