In a tragic incident late Sunday night, a devastating bus collision occurred on Interstate 81 in Lower Paxton Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, resulting in the loss of at least three lives and leaving several others injured. The accident involved a bus carrying approximately 45 to 50 passengers and a passenger vehicle, both of which were severely damaged in the crash.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the accident unfolded just before 11:50 p.m. ET on the southbound lanes of Interstate 81. Details on the cause of the collision have not been immediately ascertained, but authorities reported that the bus ended up flipped on its side due to the impact.
Tragically, three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene by state police. As for the injured victims, their numbers have not been confirmed yet, but they were transported to a hospital with varying degrees of injuries, ranging from minor to critical.
As a result of the accident, the southbound lanes between exits 77 and 72 were temporarily closed for investigation and cleanup. However, the authorities later reopened this section to restore normal traffic flow.
