A week after the start of its 2024 fiscal year, Microsoft announced on Monday that it is laying off more employees. The reductions are in addition to the 10,000 layoffs caused by the downsizing announced in January. This time last year, the software developer also made a limited number of cutbacks.
During the covid pandemic, huge technological companies like Amazon, Google, and others quickly increased personnel. This year, they have reduced that number as well. Microsoft recently stated that customers are seeking ways to reduce their cloud computing expenses.
The amount of the most recent round’s reductions was not made explicit by a Microsoft official. CEO Satya Nadella announced in a memo that the business would modify its hardware lineup and combine leases in January.
Microsoft announced Monday that it would lay off 276 employees in Washington, where it is based. 66 of them are virtual. Salespeople and customer success agents announced their job losses by posting posts on social media.

The representative stated in an email that “organizational and workforce adjustments are a necessary and regular part of managing our business. We will continue to give strategic growth areas top priority and invest in them to support both our future and that of our clients and business partners.”
