Social media accounts monitoring Taylor Swift’s private jet movements have provided potential stalkers with a “roadmap” to carry out harmful intentions, according to a cease-and-desist letter obtained by sources.
In December, Swift’s lawyers sent the letter to Jack Sweeney, who manages @taylorswiftjets and similar accounts tracking celebrities’ air travel. Katie Morrone, representing Swift, expressed concern that by sharing real-time updates on Swift’s whereabouts, these accounts facilitate individuals with harmful intentions to potentially cause harm.
Morrone argued that such tracking amounts to “stalking and harassing behavior,” posing an imminent threat to Swift’s safety. Citing past incidents where individuals armed with weapons attempted to harm Swift at her residences, Morrone highlighted the constant fear for Swift’s safety caused by such actions.
Taylor Swift has faced numerous stalking incidents, including one where a man was recently arrested outside her New York home. The timing of these incidents suggests a potential correlation with information shared by tracking accounts, according to a spokesperson for Swift.
Responding to the allegations, Sweeney stated that his accounts, which have since been taken down by Meta (the parent company of Instagram and Threads), merely utilized publicly available data. He argued that tracking celebrities’ movements, including their private jets, is of public interest and should be expected.
Additionally, Sweeney pointed out conflicting statements from Swift’s team regarding the frequency of her jet’s use, claiming they contradicted earlier reports about its environmental impact.

Efforts to reach representatives from Meta and Swift’s legal team for further comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
