A tragic incident unfolded on Thursday in north Phoenix as an agent from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) lost their life during a routine training exercise. The spokesperson for the IRS Phoenix field office, Charlotte M. Dennis, confirmed that the unfortunate incident took place while special agents were engaged in training at a firing range.

Regrettably, the agent’s identity remains undisclosed, and they succumbed to their injuries shortly after being transported to HonorHealth Deer Valley Medical Center, according to Dennis. Fortunately, there were no other reported casualties or injuries stemming from the incident.

Despite inquiries for more information, Dennis refrained from providing additional details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting.

The firing range is located on property owned by the Federal Bureau of Prisons; however, it is commonly utilized by various law enforcement agencies due to an interagency agreement.
