Renowned Broadway actor Chris Peluso, celebrated for his captivating performances in iconic productions such as ‘Mamma Mia!’ and ‘Wicked,’ sadly passed away at the age of 40 on August 15.
Peluso’s untimely demise occurred a year after he made the decision to temporarily step away from his acting career to seek treatment for schizoaffective disorder. The exact cause of his passing has not been disclosed.
Throughout his illustrious career, Peluso established himself as a revered understudy within the Broadway community. Notable highlights include his portrayal of The Balladeer in the Tony-winning revival of “Assassins,” his roles as Louis, Nicolas in Elton John’s “Lestat,” and his remarkable depiction of Gerry Goffin, Barry Mann, and Don Kirshner in “Beautiful The Carole King Musical.”
On Broadway, he took on the role of Sky in “Mamma Mia!” and embodied Fiyero in “Wicked” across multiple tours, as noted in Playbill.
Beyond the confines of Broadway, Peluso’s talents graced London’s stages, where he was featured in both plays and musicals, including “The Woman in White,” “Death Takes a Holiday,” and “Show Boat.” Notably, he starred in “Miss Saigon” before its transfer to Broadway. His artistic journey also extended across the United Kingdom with a captivating tour of “Funny Girl.”

He leaves behind a loving family, survived by his wife Jessica Gomes and their cherished children, Aria Li Gomes-Peluso and Caio Lian Gomes-Peluso.
