The Danny Fire, a fast-moving brushfire in the Antelope Valley, has reached 90% containment, as reported by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Spanning nearly 1300 acres, the fire prompted the swift response of the Los Angeles County Fire Department to the two-alarm blaze at West Avenue D and 130th Street in Fairmont, located northwest of Lancaster. Fire officials confirmed that the incident was attended to around 1:42 p.m.

The progress of the firefighting operation was impeded by strong wind gusts, reaching speeds of up to 20 miles per hour, which pushed the fire north towards Kern County. These gusty southwest winds were expected to persist until Sunday evening. However, a positive development emerged with the forecast of a “moistening trend” by the National Weather Service for the Danny Fire, which would continue until Wednesday, potentially aiding in the containment efforts.

While the cause of the fire remains undetermined, it resulted in the destruction of a nearby barn. Thankfully, no injuries were reported. As a precautionary measure, approximately 20 homes were evacuated under the guidance of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, as relayed by KTLA’s Rachel Menitoff. However, residents have now been allowed to return safely to their homes.
