A convicted child sex offender, Tommy Wayne Boyd, considered dangerous by police, escaped from Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County, Missouri, during the early hours of Thursday morning. Boyd, 45, an inmate at the Potosi Correctional Facility, was last seen around 3:45 a.m. by hospital staff, according to a statement from the St. Louis County Police Department.
Authorities at the Affton Southwest Precinct were notified around 4:30 a.m. that Boyd had fled the hospital premises. Police have released a photograph of Boyd taken inside the hospital, showing him wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket, shorts, and orange slippers. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Boyd is considered dangerous, and it remains uncertain whether he is armed. The St. Louis County Police Department has urged anyone who encounters Boyd to immediately call 911.
Boyd is serving a 30-year sentence for statutory sodomy. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, responsible for maintaining the state’s sex offender registry, reported that Boyd committed first-degree statutory sodomy in October 1996 when he was 18, and the victim was 11 years old.

According to police, Boyd had been transported to the hospital for treatment on Wednesday. As of now, no comment has been provided by the hospital spokesperson regarding the escape.
