The father of the Colorado shooter who is accused of killing five people said his first concern after the attack was whether his son is gay.
Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, was accused of shooting five people and injuring 18 others at a shooting in a gay club this past weekend.
His father, 51-year-old Aaron Brink, a former porn star and methamphetamine user living in Southern California spoke to the media to express his main concern after the Colorado shooting occurred.
The Colorado shooter’s dad on finding out his son murdered people: “They started telling me about the incident, a shooting… And then I go on to find out it’s a gay bar. I got scared, ‘Shit, is he gay?’ And he’s not gay, so I said, phew… I am a conservative Republican.” (@CBS8) pic.twitter.com/7Zw4vpLtjE

He finds out that his son shot people in a gay club and got worried if his son is gay. Brink mentioned that they are part of the Mormon church, which doesn’t allow this type of gender.
The Mormon church confirmed that Brink was a member but hadn’t been active with the community for some time.
Brink went on to waffle back and forth, apologizing for and defending his son’s actions. However, he also praised his son’s violent behavior.
He also told the press that he didn’t know his son was alive. Brink claimed that Aldrich’s mother, Laura Voepel, called him in 2016 to tell him that his son had changed his name and then killed himself. It’s because he was a porno actor in Intervention (a reality TV show).

The shooting occurred at Club Q shortly before midnight on November 19. Aldrich opened fire on the crowd before being subdued by bystanders.
He was hospitalized for injuries but was eventually transferred to El Paso County Jail on Tuesday. He sustained the injuries when clubgoers tried to disarm him.
Aldrich appeared in court earlier this week, where he sat slumped in his seat, looking bruised and beaten. The judge asked him questions but could barely determine the answers as Aldrich mumbled throughout the testimony.
He is being held without bail. His next court date is December 6.
