Share

BMW of North America is recalling over 390,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to the presence of airbag inflators that could potentially explode, posing a serious risk of injury or death.

The recall affects vehicles that may have had their original steering wheels replaced with sport or M-sport steering wheels containing Takata inflators, as stated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

In the event of an inflator explosion, sharp metal fragments could be projected toward the driver or other occupants, leading to severe injury or fatality, according to the NHTSA.

As of the latest report, BMW has not received any reports of accidents or injuries in the U.S. related to this issue.
