Funerals are often melancholy occasions where bereaved people wish their loved ones who have passed away farewell. However, against all odds, a remarkable incident occurred at a wake in Ecuador. Everyone was surprised when Bella Montoya, who had been declared dead, suddenly knocked on her casket to show that she was still very much alive.
This amazing event occurred in the capital city of Babahoyo, and it has since led to a government investigation into the hospital in charge of Bella Montoya’s treatment. After the Friday funeral was incomplete, Mrs Montoya, a 76-year-old former nurse, was quickly exhumed from her casket and quickly brought back to the hospital.
The son of Mrs Montoya, Gilberto Barbera, expressed his relief and amazement at the shocking turn of events, saying, “It gave us all a fright. There were around 20 of us there, he continued. The casket started making noises after the wake had been going on for around five hours. As we drew near, we could see my mother, who was covered in sheets, striking the casket and saw that she was breathing heavily.”
Doctors have told Mr Barbera of his mother’s serious condition, he added. According to Ecuador’s health ministry, Mrs Montoya is still receiving intensive care at Babahoyo’s Martin Icaza Hospital as the inquiry into her case develops.
A technical group that will look into the hospital’s death certificate issuance procedure has also been constituted by the government. This action attempts to assure the correctness of declaring people dead and to stop such situations from happening again.
The community is baffled by Bella Montoya’s sudden recovery, which emphasizes the value of careful medical evaluations, particularly when lives are on the line.
