Surveillance footage from the police department has unveiled an unconventional method employed by auto shop employees to apprehend a persistent thief.
At Arlington Autowrecking in Akron, the staff had grown weary of recurrent break-ins and thefts at their establishment. When they apprehended an individual who had broken into one of their vehicles, allegedly for the third time, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
To prevent the thief from fleeing, the employees utilized a forklift to suspend the vehicle in midair. According to body camera footage, an officer explained to colleagues, “He broke into a car at the junkyard, and before he could get out, they got, like, the forklift, and they had him suspended approximately 20 feet off the ground. So when we arrived, we took him into custody without any hassle.”
The arrival of law enforcement officers made the arrest straightforward. The culprit in question, 26-year-old Alexander Funk, was apprehended on charges of criminal trespassing and possession of criminal tools.

Employees informed the police that Funk had previously broken into their premises on multiple occasions. In the video, a worker recounted, “I was placing the car in the shop, and he was in the backseat. We called the police on him, and while we were waiting for your arrival, he pushed one of my colleagues aside and fled.”
