Allison Mack, the actor known for her role in the television series “Smallville,” has been released from prison ahead of schedule, according to federal records. Mack, aged 40, was reportedly released from a federal prison in California on Monday, as indicated by inmate records available on the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website.
According to federal sentencing guidelines, Mack could have faced a prison term of 14 to 17½ years. However, prosecutors argued for a reduced sentence due to her cooperation with investigators. In a previous court filing, Mack’s lawyers acknowledged that she could not undo the harm caused and would carry regret for the rest of her life. They also emphasized her potential to contribute positively to society as a family member, friend, helper to those in need, and as a cautionary tale.
Mack herself expressed remorse for the physical and emotional pain inflicted upon victims involved with the cult-like group NXIVM. She acknowledged the shame she experienced while coming to terms with her actions and referred to her devotion to the group’s leader, Keith Raniere, as the biggest mistake and greatest regret of her life. Mack apologized to those involved in NXIVM, admitting her role in exposing them to the abusive and manipulative schemes orchestrated by Raniere.
Former members of NXIVM had revealed to investigators the existence of a secret sorority within the group, where women were subjected to starvation diets, branded with Raniere’s initials, and coerced into having sexual relationships with him.

Prior to her involvement with NXIVM, Allison Mack was widely recognized for her portrayal of Chloe Sullivan, a close friend of the young Clark Kent, in the television series “Smallville.” In June 2021, Mack was sentenced to three years in prison for her involvement in NXIVM, an organization initially presenting itself as a self-help group but ultimately revealed to be a secret sex cult. In 2019, she pleaded guilty to various crimes, including extortion and forced labor, during her time as a high-ranking member of the upstate New York-based NXIVM group led by Keith Raniere, who is currently serving a 120-year prison sentence.
