A Florida mother has been arrested and charged following the tragic death of her 14-year-old daughter. Witnesses reported seeing the woman hold her daughter’s head underwater in a bathtub, according to Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez.

Kelsey Glover, 35, currently faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and battery. However, Sheriff Lopez stated during a press conference on Wednesday that the charges could be upgraded pending the medical examiner’s report, which will confirm the official cause of death.

Authorities responded to an emergency call about an armed disturbance at a residence in Osceola County. Upon arrival, deputies found the situation escalating inside the home. Deputies engaged in a struggle with Glover, disarming her of a hammer as she allegedly attempted to strike a witness who intervened to protect her daughter.
Witnesses told police they saw Glover forcibly holding her daughter’s head underwater in a bathtub. When they managed to enter the upstairs bathroom, the teen was unresponsive.

“They tried to stop her but were not successful,” Sheriff Lopez said. “Eventually, Ms. Glover began attacking and chasing these witnesses around the house with a hammer.”
The 14-year-old girl was transported to a nearby hospital but was declared dead shortly after arrival. Investigators are still piecing together what led to the tragic incident.

“The mother was being a little uncooperative,” Lopez explained, noting that detectives are working to uncover the events leading up to the girl being held underwater.
At the time of the incident, four people were present in the home: Glover, the victim, another child, and another adult who resides in the house. While the household has a limited history of domestic incidents, Sheriff Lopez mentioned a prior report in which Glover allegedly battered the girl’s father. The father later obtained an injunction against her.
