Shauna Wheeler, 41, and Ivy Chichester, 37, best friends unexpectedly gave birth at the same time.
Their first two children arrived a week apart. When the two best friends from Virginia discovered they were pregnant at the same time.
Chichester announced her pregnancy to her “mom tribe” a week later. Chichester had no idea Wheeler suspected she was pregnant as well.
After confirming her pregnancy, Wheeler informed her close friend that she, too, was expecting.
Wheeler mentioned that Chichester is nervous about having another child, but now with her, she hopes it makes a difference since they are both pregnant.
Wheeler claims she “felt like Superwoman” throughout her pregnancy and made plans even two days after giving birth. Chichester’s response was usually a chuckle, and she always encouraged her friend to rest and relax.
During her labor, she was admitted to the hospital on December 5 and gave birth at 3:41 pm. She mentioned that her best friend was supposed to visit her, but her husband explained that Chichester was also in labor.
Chichester got to the hospital around 7 p.m. that day and gave birth at 4:56 a.m. to a boy.
They said that it felt surreal as they were both giving birth to their babies at the same time and at the same hospital.
The parallels between the two best friends do not end there. Wheeler had her now 2-year-old daughter just one week before Chichester had her son. Wheeler’s birthday coincides with Chichester’s sister’s. Wheeler’s honeymoon was booked by a travel agent who is related to Chichester’s husband.
Chichester mentioned that similar connections are always there for her best friend. That’s why she’s not shocked about giving birth on the same date as Wheeler.
Both friends had joked about being in the hospital at the same time, but they never imagined it would happen — let alone two rooms apart.
The best friends hope that their children will form similar friendships, particularly with one another, in the future.
