Philadelphia, PA – The U.S. Marshals are actively searching for 29-year-old Geovanni Otero, who is wanted for the murder of Melody Rivera, also 29, whose body was discovered in a shallow grave earlier this month, authorities said.

The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force issued a statement Monday asking for the public’s assistance in locating Otero. A warrant for his arrest was issued by the Philadelphia Police Department on November 27 for charges including murder and related offenses. Otero is also wanted for violating his Pennsylvania State Parole.

“Geovanni Otero is officially charged with the homicide of Melody Rivera,” said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark. “We are hoping the public can provide information that will assist us in removing this lifelong criminal from society.”
Rivera’s body was found in early November in a shallow grave located in the 900 block of Tustin Road in Philadelphia’s Fox Chase section.

Otero is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos covering the tops of both hands, as well as a dagger tattooed behind his left ear. His last known address is in the 5800 block of N. Park Avenue in Philadelphia.

Reward Offered
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to Otero’s arrest. Authorities clarified that the reward will be processed upon his arrest, not upon conviction.
The Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, the lead agency in the case, continues its efforts to apprehend Otero. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the U.S. Marshals immediately.
