BUFFALO, N.Y. — Svetlana Dali, a Russian national, was arrested for the second time this month on Monday after attempting to illegally cross into Canada, according to law enforcement sources.

Dali, who was initially apprehended on Dec. 4 for stowing away on a Delta Air Lines flight from the United States to France, cut off her ankle monitor on Sunday while staying in Philadelphia.
The individual she was staying with discovered the monitor removed and alerted authorities.

Arrest and Attempted Escape
Law enforcement issued an arrest warrant for bail jumping Monday morning out of the Eastern District of New York. Dali was later apprehended in Buffalo, New York, on Monday afternoon while attempting to cross the border into Canada on a Greyhound bus.

Upon inspection, Dali failed to produce a passport when questioned by law enforcement at the border. Authorities confirmed she was wanted on an open warrant, leading to her arrest.
Dali is scheduled to appear in federal court before a magistrate judge on Tuesday.

Dali was originally caught traveling without proper documentation on Nov. 26 after sneaking aboard Delta Flight 264. The flight departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and was bound for Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris.

However, Dali was denied entry into France upon arrival. According to the French Interior Ministry, she was turned away for failing to present a valid travel document such as a visa.
“She was not admitted to French territory due to lack of a valid travel document (visa) and was placed in the waiting area for the time necessary for her re-routing to the United States since she held a valid U.S. residence permit,” the French ministry stated.

Dali was returned to the U.S. and turned over to authorities upon landing at JFK Airport.
