A shooting late Sunday night in Baltimore resulted in the death of one man and injuries to seven others, according to police.
Upon their arrival after 8 p.m., officers found several firearms at the scene on the 1300 block of Spring Street. Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley stated at a press conference that multiple individuals appeared to have fired shots during a gathering, leading to eight people being shot, with one fatality.
The deceased man was 36 years old. The injured include one woman and six men aged between 22 and 45. Their conditions vary from critical to stable, and they have all been transported to local hospitals.
Authorities noted that there was no indication that any of the victims were merely bystanders or uninvolved in the gathering prior to the shooting.
Information about potential suspects has not yet been released. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting with the ongoing investigation, which is still in its early stages.
Faith Leach, Baltimore’s chief administrative officer, announced that, under Mayor Brandon Scott’s direction, the city administration will begin “community neighborhood stabilization efforts” in the affected area.
