The mother of a Georgia teenager accused of fatally shooting four people, in the Georgia School Shooting, has been indicted in connection with a separate domestic incident from last year.
Marcee Gray, 43, was indicted Monday on charges of exploiting an elderly person and other related crimes in Ben Hill County, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. These charges are not connected to the shootings at Apalachee High School, which took place in a different county nearly 200 miles away.

Gray is the mother of 14-year-old Colt Gray, who was charged with murder after turning himself in to police on September 4. Authorities allege that Colt brought an assault-style rifle in his backpack to school, where he opened fire during morning classes, killing two students and two teachers and wounding nine others.
The charges against Marcee Gray are related to a domestic incident that occurred in late 2023. According to a police report, Gray’s 74-year-old mother told authorities on November 4 that Gray had taken her phone, taped her to a chair, and left her in that state for nearly an entire day.
The report states that Gray bound her mother before traveling to Barrow County to confront her ex-husband, who lived with their son and two other children. Records show Gray was arrested in Barrow County on November 6, two days after her mother was found, and she later pleaded guilty to charges of criminal trespassing, using a fake license plate, and causing property damage. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
Attempts to reach Gray for comment were unsuccessful, and it remains unclear if she has legal representation.
Gray previously stated that she contacted her son’s high school the morning of the shooting to alert staff after receiving a text message from Colt that read, “I’m sorry.” In a later statement, she said her son “is not a monster.”
Colin Gray, Colt’s father, has also been charged in connection with the case. He faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children, as authorities allege he gave his son access to the rifle used in the shootings.
