NEW YORK — A 51-year-old man has been charged with murder after allegedly killing three people in an apparent unprovoked stabbing spree across Manhattan, police said.

Ramon Rivera, who was staying at the Bellevue Men’s Shelter, was taken into custody Monday and faces three counts of first-degree murder for the random stabbings, according to the NYPD.

Timeline of the Attacks
- 8:22 a.m.: The first victim, Angel Lata Landi, 36, was fatally stabbed in the abdomen near a construction site on West 19th Street.
- 10:20 a.m.: A 68-year-old man was found with multiple stab wounds on East 30th Street and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are withholding his name until family members are notified.
- 10:55 a.m.: A 36-year-old woman was stabbed at 42nd Street and First Avenue. She succumbed to her injuries at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Suspect Arrested
Rivera was apprehended near East 46th Street and First Avenue. Two bloody kitchen knives believed to have been used in the attacks were recovered.

“He just walked up to them and began to attack them with the knives,” said Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny during a press briefing.
Mental Health Concerns
Mayor Eric Adams confirmed Rivera has a history of mental health challenges and eight prior arrests.
“There’s a real question as to why he was on the street,” Adams said.

“These random attacks left two innocent victims dead and another fighting for her life,” Kenny said. “We are not looking for additional suspects at this time.”
Rivera remains in custody as the investigation continues.
