TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Two local duck hunters made a shocking discovery earlier this week when they stumbled upon human remains in a wooded area during a scouting trip, authorities reported.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday, January 14, 2025, at approximately 5:49 p.m. The hunters were scouting near Highway 16 North in Taylorsville, around 60 miles north of Charlotte, when they noticed the remains and immediately contacted law enforcement.
The Alexander County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), promptly responded to the scene to process the area for evidence and begin their investigation.
“On January 14th, 2025, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, processed the scene,” authorities confirmed in an official statement.
