Two people were killed, and two others, including a toddler, were injured in a Washington shooting, according to authorities.
Around 11:22 a.m. on Thursday, three individuals exited a car armed with what appeared to be rifles and opened fire on the block, said Metropolitan Police Department Chief Pamela Smith during a news conference.
Three men at the intersection were shot, resulting in two fatalities and one hospitalization with non-life-threatening injuries, Smith reported.
A 2-year-old girl was also shot and hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Smith added.
At the time of the shooting, the toddler was leaving a daycare center with a group for their morning walk. No other children were harmed, Smith noted.
“This is yet another instance of gun violence that is unacceptable in our communities,” an exasperated Smith stated. “We are sick and tired of this.”
The suspects remain at large, according to Smith.

Authorities are searching for a blue Dodge Charger with heavily tinted windows. It appears the suspects abandoned one vehicle and switched to the blue Charger after the shooting, Smith explained.
