Van Gogh, a pit bull with one ear has finally found his ‘furever home.’
Jaclyn Gartner, founder of Happily Furever After Rescue in Connecticut, found the adorable dog named Van Gogh on the internet. The dog was initially rescued by a North Carolina rescue shelter.
The 7-year-old pit bull was an outcast on the streets. Van Gogh was discovered injured and needed assistance from a North Carolina shelter.
He was initially in poor health. Due to injuries sustained, his left ear needs to be surgically removed.
Van Gogh trusted the people around him despite his bad experience. That is why Gartner has stated that she will work tirelessly to find this adorable dog the best home possible.
Happily Furever acquired the dog in June 2022, and was transported via plane along with other rescued dogs.
When he stepped out of the plane, Gartner assumed the dog would be adopted immediately. He is extremely friendly and would like to sit on everyone’s lap.
But no one seemed to be interested in him.
Gartner decided the best way to resolve the problem was by putting on an art show featuring his “artwork,” the dog. This idea will help her reach more fur parents who want to adopt rescued dogs.
The art goes like this, Gartner will apply different colors on a canvas, and place it in a Ziploc bag. To create the masterpiece, she placed treats like peanut butter or any of his favorite treats on top. So, when he licks the treats, the paint will be mixed, creating abstract art.
Despite this idea, it still didn’t help her case, as people were still not interested in fostering Van Gogh.
Even though her art gallery attempt failed, she tried another way.
She shared messages about him on her private Facebook page in the hopes that someone would step forward and offer to foster the pit bull.
Many people wanted to foster him in return, and he finally found his forever home after a series of foster placements.
Jessica Starowitz, a rescuer, has always been fascinated with Van Gogh. She has always loved animals and has fostered and adopted cats and dogs.
Stratowitz stated that her foster session with Van Gogh was unsuccessful because she desired to adopt the dog immediately.
