Tragic News: Pro Football Legend’s Son Passes Away at Just 28

Ray Lewis III, a former college football player and the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, has passed away at the age of 28. The news of Lewis III’s death was shared by his younger brother Rahsaan Lewis on social media on Thursday.

“It’s hard to believe I’m writing this, but RIP big brother,” read the tribute on his verified Instagram account. “I hope you’ve found peace now because I know how much you were hurting.” No details about the cause of Lewis III’s death have been disclosed.

Lewis III attended Lake Mary Prep High School in Florida, where he excelled as a running back. According to Max Preps, he rushed for an impressive 5,283 yards and scored 53 touchdowns in three seasons. He was regarded as a three-star running back recruit by 247/Sports.

He went on to play college football at the University of Miami, initially joining the practice squad in his freshman year of 2013. After one season at Miami, Lewis transferred to Coastal Carolina and later to Virginia Union.

Mark James, Lewis III’s former coach at Virginia Union, spoke highly of him, saying, “Ray was a remarkable young man who played with the heart of a lion. He was a valuable asset to the Virginia Union family, and he will always be remembered as a Panther. May God bless his family.”
