In a devastating incident at a renowned resort in Canada, a man lost his life while a woman fights for her survival in the hospital. The accident occurred on Sunday at the Mont-Tremblant resort near Montreal, Quebec, when an equipment malfunction caused the pair to be forcefully ejected from their sightseeing gondola.
Authorities stated that a drilling machine was responsible for the accident, though the reason for its operation beneath the gondola remains unclear. The Quebec police, in collaboration with other agencies, are investigating the incident and have not ruled out the possibility of criminal negligence.
Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Éric Cadotte described the harrowing scene, saying, “It was pretty bad. The gondola that was struck, there’s a part of the gondola that was ripped off and the people had no chance at all, they just fell on the ground at several meters, hitting hard on the ground.” Cadotte expressed shock at the presence of a drilling machine beneath the gondolas on a Sunday, questioning the circumstances surrounding its operation.
The victims, both in their 50s and hailing from Ontario, were tragically caught up in this incident. Cadotte informed the media that the woman remains in critical condition at the hospital, fighting for her life.
As the investigation unfolds, the provincial police are actively gathering information from witnesses, including resort personnel and the operator of the drilling machine.

The Tremblant Resort Association addressed the incident through a Facebook post, announcing the suspension of all activities at the popular resort as a result of the tragedy.
