As HBO and PlayStation Productions gear up for the commencement of The Last of Us season 2, the series has been actively filling crucial new roles.
The much-anticipated casting updates were announced through the official Max Twitter account, revealing Kaitlyn Dever (known for “No One Will Save You”) as Abby Anderson and Young Mazino (from “Beef”) taking on the role of Jesse. Both actors are slated to begin filming in February in Vancouver, Canada, alongside the existing cast members.
Deadline reports that Dever finalized her contract in November, having been a top contender for the significant role following the SAG-AFTRA strike. In discussing Young Mazino’s casting as Jesse, series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neill Druckmann expressed their excitement, stating: “Young possesses a rare and immediate presence on screen… We feel incredibly fortunate to have him on board and are eager for audiences to witness Young’s remarkable talent in our series.”
The second season of the acclaimed series, which will explore only a portion of the events from the second game by Naughty Dog, is set for a 2025 release. The first season has already achieved impressive success, securing eight Emmy awards. The series could achieve even greater recognition at the main Emmy Awards show scheduled for January 15, with both Pedro Pascal (Joel Miller) and Bella Ramsey (Ellie Williams) nominated for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor/Actress in a Drama Series.’
