Two students have been apprehended for their alleged involvement in distributing THC infused edibles and psilocybin mushrooms, resulting in the hospitalization of at least seven students who consumed the substances during a school day, as per law enforcement officials.
Last Friday, around 12:33 p.m., Cabarrus County Schools reached out to the Concord Police Department after numerous students at C.C. Griffin Middle School, situated approximately 20 miles northeast of Charlotte, North Carolina, experienced adverse reactions to an unidentified substance, according to a statement issued by the Concord Police Department recounting the incident.
In collaboration with the school system, police investigators conducted interviews with several students, uncovering that the incident had been premeditated. The Concord Police Department stated, “Two students informed their peers that they had access to THC edibles, and leading up to Friday, some students made arrangements to purchase these edibles.”
Consequently, on Friday, the THC edibles were brought onto the school premises and shared among a group of students. Some students, acknowledging their participation, also confessed to ingesting psilocybin mushrooms, leading to adverse reactions for several individuals.
Authorities revealed, “The investigation also unveiled that students were aware they were ingesting the edibles.” All students who consumed a portion of the rice krispy treat and communicated with the police admitted to being cognizant that they were consuming a THC edible.
Subsequently, the Concord Police Department filed petitions through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice against the two students responsible for bringing the edibles to school, seeking accountability for the incident.

“One student is facing two counts of possession with intent to deliver a Schedule VI drug,” reported the Concord Police Department. “Another student is being charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver a Schedule I drug.”
