Officials have announced that Pete Davidson will be required to attend traffic school and complete mandatory community service as a penalty for crashing his car into a Beverly Hills home earlier this year, according to reports on Monday.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office stated last month that Davidson faced a misdemeanor reckless driving charge in relation to the incident. The crash occurred in the Beverly Hills flats on March 4 when Davidson’s Mercedes jumped the curb, hit a fire hydrant, and collided with a home. His girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders, was reportedly in the passenger seat at the time.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident, as confirmed by both the Beverly Hills Police Department and the district attorney. Authorities ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in the crash, and Davidson cooperated with the police when they arrived at the scene, maintaining a cordial demeanor.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles DA’s office revealed that the court decided to place Davidson on an 18-month “diversion program” as an alternative to prosecution. This program mandates 12 hours of traffic school and 50 hours of community service. Davidson has been granted permission to fulfill all three penalties in the state of New York, and it’s likely that his community service will be completed with NYFD (New York Fire Department).

The decision holds personal significance for Davidson, as his father, a firefighter named Scott Davidson, tragically lost his life in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center when the comedian was just 7 years old. After reviewing surveillance footage of the crash, police identified speed as a contributing factor leading to the collision. Davidson’s spokesperson has not responded to requests for comment.

In a separate development, on June 28, a source close to Davidson confirmed that the actor had checked into rehab. This came as he had previously sought help for mental health issues, including borderline personality disorder, depression, and anxiety.
